Kolkata, February 27 (IANS). The family members of Pulak Halder, a final year student of Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital and Medical College in Nadia district of West Bengal, have claimed that he has been murdered. Let us tell you that the decomposed body of Pulak Haldar was found in the hostel room.
The investigating officer of the case said that the post-mortem of the medical student’s body will be done on Friday and only after that the reasons behind the death will be known.
According to Sudhanshu Halder, father of the deceased medical student, several injuries and cut marks were found on his son’s body, which made him suspect murder.
He further said, “It is definitely not a case of natural death. We demand a thorough and impartial investigation into this matter. I do not want the investigation into my son’s death to meet the same fate as the case of the gruesome rape and murder of a junior doctor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata in 2024.”
Uttam Mandal, a relative of the family, said that Pulak Halder was not only a bright and hard-working youth, but also had a very humble nature. He said, “I have also seen bruises and cut marks on her face and stomach. Therefore, the possibility of attack on her before her death cannot be ruled out. I hope that there will be a fair and proper investigation in this case.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that Pulak was last seen on February 20 while going to have food in the hostel canteen. Since then he had not left the hostel premises nor was he seen by any fellow student or hostel authorities.
On Thursday (February 26), a foul smell started coming from his hostel room. When there was no response from inside, the door was broken open and his decomposed body was found.
His family members have also told the police that their last telephone conversation with Pulak was on February 20, the day of his disappearance.
Family members have also claimed that in the past, Pulak had complained of bullying by other students during protests related to the RG Kar rape and murder case. It has also been alleged that she was facing problems in college, although these claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
