New Delhi, May 29 (IANS). In summer, people often think that sweating removes all the toxins from the body, but is it really so? Health experts give detailed information about this. Also explains why exercise is very important in summer.

Celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija says that sweat is not the main means of removing harmful substances from the body. This work is mainly done by liver and kidney. Then why is it important to move or exercise in summer? According to experts, the biggest benefit of exercise is that it improves blood circulation. Good blood circulation helps in delivering nutrients and oxygen to every part of the body. It also keeps the lymphatic system active, which plays an important role in cleaning the body.

Exercise also improves metabolism and the body is able to adapt to the heat. Pooja Makhija explains that even light activities like brisk walking, stretching or light strength training prove to be effective in keeping the blood vessels healthy. With this the body is able to handle stress better.

Regular exercise in summer prepares the body to tolerate the heat in hot weather. This increases the efficiency of sweating, increases plasma volume, improves heart function and strengthens the body’s temperature control system. As a result, over time you feel less tired in the heat and the risk of heat stress also reduces.

Research also confirms this. According to the study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, exposure to heat combined with exercise increases plasma and improves temperature regulation. Similarly, the Journal of Physiological Reviews states that exercise directly affects the function of blood vessels.

Exercise in summer is not a punishment, but an act of wisdom. Choose morning or evening time, drink enough water, adjust the intensity of exercise according to the weather and pay attention to the body’s signals. Do not stay in the sun for too long. Continuing light physical activity during this summer season will not only maintain fitness but will also enable the body to withstand the heat better.
