New Delhi. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government and the DGCA (civil aviation regulator) seeking their response on a petition demanding an independent judicial inquiry into the Air India plane crash that took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in June this year. This petition has been filed on behalf of Pushkarraj Sabharwal, father of late Captain Sumit Sabharwal, the pilot of the accident Air India plane, and the Indian Pilot Federation. The Supreme Court bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi told the late pilot’s father, this accident was extremely unfortunate, do not keep any burden in your mind. The pilot cannot be blamed in any way.

The bench said that in the preliminary investigation no such conclusion has been reached in which the pilot is held responsible for the accident. He said that the report published in the American newspaper Wall Street General about Captain Sumit Sabharwal is not true, it was done only to blame India for this accident. The bench also referred to the audio from which there was a conversation between the two pilots of the aircraft regarding the fuel switch.

In fact, the father of late Captain Sumit Sabharwal, in his petition, has demanded a fresh, impartial and transparent investigation into the accident under the supervision of a retired judge. It has been said in the petition that by ignoring the technical flaws in the preliminary investigation, an attempt has been made to put the entire blame on the pilots, who now cannot even defend themselves. The court has fixed November 10 for the next hearing of this case. Let us tell you that only one passenger survived in this accident and the remaining 241 people on board the plane died. 34 other people were also killed.
