Amit Shah's big claim regarding Bengal elections, said "Mamata will not win the elections"

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed confidence that the BJP will win the West Bengal Assembly elections and said he clearly sees that the Mamata Banerjee government will not be elected. He said, “Every party says its own thing, Rahul Gandhi is also doing the same, but I clearly see that Mamata Banerjee will not win the elections this time.

She was asked about comments made by the Congress leader during election rallies in the state. She also hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had talked about filing a “legal case” against her for her “violent comments”, and said the Trinamool Congress leader has been continuously losing in the courts and will continue to lose.

Amit Shah said that Mamata Banerjee keeps speaking and the BJP is campaigning among those who will give their verdict in the elections. He said, “Mamata Banerjee keeps speaking. She keeps losing in the courts. She will keep doing the same. We are among the people, and the people of Bengal will have to decide on the 29th.”

He further said, “What does Mamata Banerjee want to say? Should goons be respected? She (Mamata Banerjee) has a plan to respect those who harass the public.” Amit Shah was responding to a question on Mamata Banerjee’s statement in which she had said that she would “file a legal case against Amit Shah for his violent comments”.

He said, “We are going to file a legal case against Amit Shah for his violent statements. As the Home Minister, he cannot make such statements.” He said, “What kind of language is the Home Minister using? Talking about hanging people upside down after the elections is unacceptable. With this mentality you will never win Bengal—never!” Addressing public meetings in North Para and Hingalganj assembly constituencies yesterday, Amit Shah warned goons not to come out of their homes on April 29, the day of the second phase of voting in West Bengal.

He further said, “I want to warn the goons not to come out of their homes on April 29; if they come out, after April 5 we will teach them a lesson by hanging them upside down. The Election Commission has made good security arrangements through CAPFs. No goon of Mamata Banerjee can stop you.”

Mamata Banerjee had hit back at Amit Shah’s speech and said that BJP will not be able to win in West Bengal with this kind of attitude. She said, “What kind of language is Home Minister Amit Shah using? You are saying that after the elections you will hang people upside down. You can never win Bengal with this attitude, never!”

Earlier in the day, while addressing a rally in Jamalpur in East Bardhaman, Amit Shah strongly criticized the Trinamool Congress government over the law and order situation in the state.

He said, “There is no security for mothers, sisters and daughters in Bengal under Mamata’s rule. There have been atrocities against women in RG Kar, Sandeshkhali, Kolkata Law College, Durgapur Law College. And she (Mamata) had said that women should not come out of the house after 7 pm, but I am telling you that after the 5th, even a small girl will come out of the house at 1 am and no goon will be able to harass her.”

Addressing a rally in Shyampur, Amit Shah continued his attack on Mamata Banerjee. He said, “Whenever I speak against these goons, Mata Didi gets angry. Didi, keep your goons locked in the garage, because if they dare to touch the mothers and sisters of Bengal, they will not be spared.” West Bengal recorded a record 92.88 per cent turnout in the first phase of elections held on April 23. The second phase of voting will be held on April 29 and counting of votes will take place on April 4.
