The government has provided major relief to thousands of passengers stranded after the temporary suspension of flights in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) reported that they have helped a total of 30,913 travelers. Of these, 15,327 people have been issued emergency visas so that they can stay in the country legally. Due to regional conditions, a precautionary ban on flights was imposed from March 1, 2026.
Big decisions of the government for stranded passengers
On humanitarian grounds, the UAE government has decided to bear the entire cost of accommodation and food for the stranded passengers. For travelers whose visas were expiring, ICP immediately issued 15,327 entry visas. The officials clarified that in times of crisis, the safety of passengers and taking care of their needs is their priority. For this, special teams were deployed at major airports like Zayed International, Dubai and Sharjah.
Latest updates on flights and visa rules
Flights status: Airlines like Emirates, Etihad and flydubai have resumed limited flights from the evening of March 3.
Visa Penalty: The government has waived emergency visa fees during the crisis, however the overstay fine during normal times is 50 AED per day.
Ticket Rebooking: Airlines are providing free rebooking facility to affected passengers within 20 days.
Important advice: Passengers have been advised not to go to the airport until a confirmed message is received from the airline.

Security arrangements have been tightened in other cities including Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Ministry of Economy has made it clear that there is sufficient stock of food items in the country and strict action will be taken against any kind of black marketing. Indian passengers who were traveling from UAE to India or were in transit have been advised to get in touch with their respective airlines.
