Bajaj Auto has expanded its electric scooter portfolio in the Indian market by launching a new and affordable model ‘Bajaj Chetak C25’. The company has introduced it especially for those customers who want to buy a reliable and metal bodied electric scooter in a budget. Its ex-showroom price in Bengaluru has been kept at Rs 91,399, making it the cheapest model in the Chetak lineup.
Strong battery and range
The company has provided a 2.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack in Bajaj Chetak C25. It is a floorboard-mounted battery, which helps in maintaining better balance of the scooter. The company claims that once fully charged, this scooter can run up to 113 kilometers (IDC range). However, in actual conditions its range may be around 90 kilometers. It has two riding modes – ‘Eco’ and ‘Sports’, which give the rider the freedom to choose power and range as per his need.
Modern features and color options
Despite being a cheap model, Bajaj has not lacked features in it. It has a color LCD display, which can be connected to the smartphone. You can see call and SMS alerts on the screen. Apart from this, it has USB charging port, LED lighting and 25 liters of under-seat storage, in which you can easily keep the helmet or your luggage. This scooter is available in 6 attractive colors – Racing Red, Misty Yellow, Ocean Teal, Active Black, Opalescent Silver and Classic White.
Charging and top speed
Talking about performance, the top speed of Chetak C25 is 55 kilometers per hour, which is enough to drive in city traffic. It has a 1.8 kW motor which can go up to 2.2 kW in peak power. For charging, a 750W off-board charger is available with it. This charger takes approximately 2 hours 25 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 80%, while it takes 3.5 to 4 hours for a full charge (0-100%). It also has the feature of Hill Hold Assist, which prevents the scooter from rolling backward on slopes.

price and tough competition
The price and features of Bajaj Chetak C25 make it a strong contender in the market. This entry-level variant falls below the existing Chetak 30 and 35 series. In the Indian market, it will compete directly with electric scooters like TVS iQube, Ola S1 X and Vida VX2. Bajaj’s confidence and strength of metal body gives it a different identity compared to other scooters with plastic body.
