The investigation into the Learjet 45 plane crash that took place in Baramati on January 28, 2026 has now reached a new phase. The Civil Aviation Ministry has informed that the digital flight data recorder of the aircraft has been successfully downloaded in Delhi. However, the cockpit voice recorder has been badly damaged due to the fire for which help from foreign experts is being sought. This incident has also created a stir in Maharashtra politics as former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar lost his life in it.

What is the latest information regarding accident investigation and black box?
AAIB, the agency investigating the plane crash, has said that the investigation is being conducted as per international standards. Investigation of both the parts of the black box is important to gather technical information about the accident. The main points of the investigation are as follows:
DFDR Status: Complete information from the aircraft’s data recorder has been extracted from the Delhi lab.
CVR Status: The cockpit voice recorder has been burnt due to excessive heat and fire. American company Honeywell has been contacted for its data.
Investigation Report: According to international rules, the initial report is expected to come within 30 days of the accident i.e. by 27th February.
Pawar family’s demand and government’s big decision
Ajit Pawar’s son Jai Pawar has publicly raised questions on the malfunction of the black box. He says that aircraft recorders are so strong that they cannot be easily destroyed. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar has met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and demanded a CBI inquiry into this entire matter. The family suspects some major negligence or conspiracy in this. The government has also taken strict steps regarding security after this accident.
