New Delhi. In Bihar, the opposition Grand Alliance also lost one seat without contesting the elections. In fact, the nomination of Mukesh Sahni’s party VIP candidate Shashi Bhushan Singh from Sugauli seat has been cancelled. According to the information received from the Election Commission, Shashi Bhushan’s nomination has been rejected due to some technical deficiencies in the form. Elections are to be held on Sugauli seat in the second phase and the last date for nomination for both the phases has already passed, hence now no Grand Alliance candidate will be able to contest on this seat.
According to the Election Commission, nominations of a total of 10 candidates were filed from Sugauli Assembly, out of which the nominations of five people have been canceled due to technical reasons. Apart from VIP candidate Shashi Bhushan Singh, nominations of Aam Aadmi Party’s Ghiyasuddin Samani, Apni Janata Party candidate Sadre Alam and two independent candidates Prakash Chaudhary and Krishna Mohan Jha have been cancelled. However, due to the rejection of Shashi Bhushan Singh’s nomination, the electoral equations on this seat have completely changed. Now there is a contest between the NDA candidate and Jansuraj Party. From the NDA side, Sugauli seat has gone to Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas).
Chirag Paswan has fielded Rajesh Kumar alias Bablu Gupta from here while Prashant Kishore has given ticket to Ajay Jha from his Jan Suraj Party. In the 2020 assembly elections, Shashi Bhushan Singh, as RJD candidate, defeated VIP Party’s Ramchandra Sahni. VIP was part of NDA in that election. Earlier, the nomination of NDA constituent Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate Seema Singh from Marhaura assembly constituency has also been cancelled. In this way, both the NDA and the Grand Alliance have lost one seat each without contesting the elections.
