The Election Commission said on Tuesday that a total of 66.91 percent voting took place in Bihar, which is the highest since the first elections held in the state in 1951. The Commission said that the number of women voters was also the highest in the history of the state.
The Election Commission said that in the first phase of voting on November 6, women voted 69.04 percent compared to 61.56 percent men.
Women voters again voted in large numbers in the second and final phase of voting held here on Tuesday. The participation of women voters was 74.03 percent, while the percentage of male voters was 64.1 percent.
The Election Commission said the data is provisional and does not include the percentage of service voters, transgender voters and postal ballots. It underlined that the final data would be shared through the ECI Index Card.
Earlier in Bihar, women had voted in large numbers in the 2015 assembly elections. That time the voting percentage of women was 60.48 while the percentage of male voters was 53.32.
Here in the 2000 assembly elections, the voting percentage of men was 70.71 percent, while the voting percentage of women was 53.28 percent.
