New Delhi. India’s main festival Diwali has been included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. In the UNESCO meeting at the Red Fort in Delhi, it has been decided to include Diwali in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed happiness over this. Modi said, people of India and around the world are thrilled. For us, Diwali is deeply linked to our culture and ethos. The festival of Diwali is the soul of our civilization. It is a symbol of light and righteousness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, with the inclusion of Diwali in UNESCO’s intangible heritage list, the global popularity of this festival will increase even further. Inaugurating the session, Jaishankar described traditions, languages, music, crafts and other intangible heritage as the most democratic expression of culture. Jaishankar said, recognition of intangible heritage not only brings cultural pride, but it also plays a big role in people’s livelihood and local economy.
