Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday condemned Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the debate on three bills related to women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha. He called these comments “unfortunate and condemnable” and said Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the country.

He said, “I find the kind of words that the leader of the opposition has used against the Prime Minister of the country, unfortunate and highly condemnable. The people of the country have elected him as the Prime Minister. By repeatedly calling him a magician, he is not insulting any one person, but is insulting the entire country. I request you (Speaker Sir) to remove his comments from the record and Rahul Gandhi should apologize.”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also criticized Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. She also objected to his comments related to Operation Sindoor and the Balakot strike.

He asked, “We have requested Rahul Gandhi ji many times that as the leader of the opposition, you should speak but stay within limits. And he is saying wrong things about the elected Prime Minister of this country. What do he want to prove by this? The Speaker has warned him many times to speak decently. This is unacceptable in Parliament. The language used by the leader of the opposition is extremely worrying. Is this the way to behave? Should the leader of the opposition use this kind of language?”

During the debate in the Lok Sabha on the bills to accelerate the implementation of women’s reservation, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to which the ruling party strongly objected and Speaker Om Birla also expressed his disagreement and said that it is necessary to follow parliamentary decorum. Rahul Gandhi fiercely criticized the government over the delimitation bill.

Despite the disruptions, Gandhi continued his attack on the BJP. He said, “The people of the BJP have a deep misunderstanding in their minds. You are neither the people of India nor the armed forces. Stop hiding like cowards behind the armed forces and the people of India.”

He further said, “What you (BJP) are doing is you are scared of what is happening in the politics of the country, scared of your power being diminished, and are trying to change the political map of India. You did this in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir, and now you think you can do this all over India. For this you need to amend the Constitution.”
