New Delhi. Gaganpreet Makkar, accused in the BMW car accident case in Delhi on 14 September, has been granted bail by the Patiala House Court today. For bail, they will have to pay a bond of one lakh rupees. Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh was killed in the accident, while his wife Sandeep Kaur was seriously injured. Navjot was going on a bike with his wife, when BMW hit his bike while going towards Raja Garden from Pillar No. 57 of Dhaulakuan. Gaganpreet Makkar was driving the car.
The court has ordered the accused Gaganpreet to submit his passport and be present in the court in every hearing. In this whole case, Navjot Singh’s son Navanur Singh had raised the question that after the accident, the accused Gaganpreet did not take his parents to any nearby hospital and take him to New Life Nursing Home of GTB Nagar, 22 km away? He said that AIIMS was near the scene but what does it mean to go there so far? At the same time, the wife of the deceased had also said that if taken to a nearby hospital, then Navjot Singh’s life could have been saved.

Later it was revealed that the accused in which the accused Gaganpreet had taken the injured belonged to his relative. On the other hand, in the court, Gaganpreet’s lawyer told the court that immediately after the accident, his client took the injured to the hospital. The lawyer said that if similarly accused will be made on helping every injured, then no one will help anyone. The lawyer also said in his argument that Gaganpreet followed the Supreme Court’s Gyneline. While hearing the bail plea, the court also observed CCTV footage related to the incident.
