There is an important news for women using public transport in Delhi. The facility of free travel for women in DTC buses will continue as before, but now the way of traveling is going to change. Now women will not need to get a pink slip (ticket) for free travel, instead National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is being made mandatory for this. The purpose of this change is to digitalize the entire ticketing system and provide paperless facility to the passengers.
‘Pink Card’ will be completely free for women and transgenders, normal passengers will have to pay a fee
Under this new system, special ‘Pink Cards’ will be issued for women and transgender community traveling in DTC buses. They will not have to pay any fee for making this card, that is, it will be completely free. Once this card is made, women will not have to ask for separate tickets from the conductor during every journey, rather they will be able to enjoy free travel through their card itself. At the same time, card facility will also be available for general category passengers and regular travelers, but they will have to pay the prescribed fee for making it. The government believes that this will not only save paper, but will also make travel more convenient and transparent.
To get the card made, it will be mandatory to show Aadhar card with Delhi address, only then the facility will be available.
Some conditions have also been imposed for getting a free pink card. To avail this facility, eligible women and transgenders will have to submit their Aadhar card. The most important thing is that it is mandatory to have Delhi address on Aadhaar card. That is, only women resident of Delhi will be considered eligible for this free smart card facility. General passengers will be able to get their card made from the counter by paying fee as per their convenience. This step will ensure that subsidy benefits reach directly to the targeted beneficiaries.
New digital system will start from February, you will get freedom from the hassle of tickets
Preparations are in full swing to implement this new digital system. It is expected that the process of issuing NCMC cards will start from the month of February. For this, the concerned companies will set up their setups in Delhi and the work of making cards will start through the camp. After the issuance of the card, passengers will get the facility of digital payment and there will be more transparency in bus travel. In future, passengers can also get other government benefits and facilities like fare discount through this card. Apart from this, special provisions will also be made for senior citizens, disabled people, journalists and sportspersons under this new system.
