A draft of the new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0 has been prepared to deal with the air pollution crisis in the capital Delhi and encourage clean transportation. The policy aims to make the adoption of e-vehicles simple and affordable, develop charging infrastructure and make clear provisions for scientific disposal and recycling of batteries. This draft will be dedicated and implemented soon.

Promotion of e-vehicles: abandon old technology

Delhi government has decided to promote the use of e-vehicles to reduce pollution. The new EV policy has suggested several measures to make the prices of electric vehicles market friendly. This will make it easier for citizens to buy and maintain e-vehicles and will see a change in the transportation sector as a whole.

Expanding charging infrastructure: increasing convenience

The new policy has a provision for massive expansion of charging networks in public and private sectors. The permission process will be streamlined under the single-window approval system. Facilities for battery swapping and charging stations are also proposed, making EV charging as simple as charging a mobile phone.

Battery Disposal Arrangement: Protecting the Environment

As the use of e-vehicles increases, scientific disposal of battery waste will also be an important part of the policy. An expert guide will be prepared for the safe recycling of old lithium-ion batteries. This initiative will help in reducing environmental and health-related risks.

Incentives and Subsidies: Cost Reduction

The government is considering incentive schemes to reduce the price gap between e-vehicles and conventional petrol/diesel vehicles. This includes schemes to provide additional incentives on replacement of old vehicles, which will motivate citizens to buy e-vehicles.

Timely Supply: Consumer Satisfaction Priority

Manufacturers have been instructed to provide e-vehicles on time as per market demand. With this, there will be no delay for the customers in purchasing the vehicle and the prices will be kept under control.

Through this new policy, Delhi Government aims to create a green and clean transportation environment, ensuring a healthy and safe life for all citizens.
