New Delhi. The Supreme Court has postponed the Allahabad High Court order to stay the Ramlila festival which has been in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh for the last 100 years. The court said that it is not appropriate to stop the event in the middle. A 3 -judge bench headed by Justice Suryakant of the Supreme Court told the petitioner in a strict tone that Ramlila is being organized for 100 years, why did you sleep now? Why did not the first petition file to be filed about this and what is the meaning of filing a petition after the commencement of Ramlila festival this year? With this, the Supreme Court ordered to resume Ramlila and said that students should not have any problem.
Actually, this case is related to Ramlila to be held at the council school in Tundla under Firozabad. A person named Pradeep Rana had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court demanding a ban on the Ramlila event. It was argued by the petitioner that the children’s playground has been encroached in the name of the Ramlila event. Due to this, children are unable to get a place in the field to play and their studies are being damaged. Cement tile has also been installed in the ground and interlocking work is being done so that the ground can be made a permanent Ramlila site.
The Allahabad High Court had ordered a ban on the event of Ramlila on 22 September and the administration stopped the program. After this, the Ramlila Committee challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court bench stayed the order of the High Court and said that the Ramlila Committee should apply to become a party in the High Court and the High Court should hear the matter soon and listen to all the parties and take a decision.
