Jio Payments Bank has now brought a new change in highway toll collection in India. Now you will not need to stop at toll or stand in long queues. The bank has received the contract to implement the next generation Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) technology at two important toll plazas – Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura – on the Gurugram-Jaipur Highway.
What is the new technology of toll collection?
This system is super-modern; This includes modern technologies like Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), Red Camera based Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Dedicated Short Range Communication and Satellite Navigation. When vehicles travel on the highway, the cameras installed in them recognize the number plates and the toll is automatically deducted. Due to this there is no need to slow down or stop the vehicle.
What will be the benefit to the passengers?
Now traveling will become easier and faster. You will no longer need to stop and wait at the toll plaza.
There will be savings in petrol and diesel because the vehicle will not have to be stopped and started again and again.
Jams or long queues will also be a thing of the past.
Revenue will also come transparently for the government and road management will be better.
How is the expansion in the country?
Jio Payments Bank is already doing FASTag based collection work at 11 other such toll plazas. The bank started this new service from July 2025. Now the MLFF tolling system is being expanded across the country. This system is going to be installed at about 25 toll plazas in the coming financial year.
