New Delhi. The Students’ Union on Saturday took out a Freedom march for the release of the accused of Delhi riots at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the premiere educational institution of Delhi, the country’s capital. The JNU Students’ Union took a march from Ganga Dhaba to Sabarmati Dhaba in the campus and shouted slogans to release the accused of Delhi riots. Please tell that Omar Khalid, accused of Delhi riots, studied from JNU itself. The family members of several accused, including his father SQR Ilyas, also attended the JNU march. Several accused, including Omar Khalid, Gulfisha Fatima and Sharjil Imam, are lodged in Tihar Jail in the Delhi riot case. All these have strict sections of the UAPA law.

The accused, including Omar Khalid, Gulfisha and Sharjil Imam, are accused of active participation in the Delhi riot in the year 2020. Umar Khalid, a student of JNU, is alleged to have tried to gather a crowd through WhatsApp during the Delhi riots. At the same time, Gulfisha Fatima is alleged to have conspired to riot in Delhi. The Sharjil Imam has been accused of inciting Muslims to cut the chicken neck of the Northeast in a public meeting. Omar Khalid, Gulfisha Fatima and Sharjil Imam did not get bail from the trial court. The Delhi High Court also rejected the bail application of all the accused of Delhi riot in the past. After which Umar Khalid, Gulfisha Fatima and Shaziil Imam have applied in the Supreme Court for bail.

The Supreme Court will hear the bail application of Omar Khalid, Gulfisha Fatima and Sharjil Imam on September 19. Demonstrations started in Delhi to protest against the CAA law. After this violence erupted. In this violence, 53 people, including IB officer Ankit Sharma, were killed. Apart from this, dozens of people were injured. The Delhi Police took action and arrested all the people in this case. Many of them have been granted bail by the court. Regarding Omar Khalid, Gulfisha and Sharjil, his colleagues claim that there has been no role in the riot. In such a situation, it is to be seen whether the Supreme Court gives relief by hearing the bail application of these three.
