New Delhi. The name of the Prime Minister’s Office has now changed. The new PM office being built under the Central Vista Project will be known as ‘Seva Teerth’. The government has taken this important decision considering the working style of the PMO and its dedication towards public service. A total of three hi-tech buildings have been built in the Seva Teerth complex. In this, a new PMO will be shifted to Seva Tirth-1, Cabinet Secretariat to Seva Tirth-2, while the office of National Security Advisor (NSA) will be shifted to Seva Tirth-3. All these buildings are equipped with secure communication system and state-of-the-art technology.
Earlier, the Raj Bhawans of the state are now being named Lok Bhawan. As per the instructions of the Union Home Ministry, West Bengal, Assam, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat and Tripura have changed the name of Raj Bhawan of their states to Lok Bhawan. Whereas in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the name of the Lieutenant Governor’s residence has been changed to Lok Niwas. According to the Central Government, the name of Raj Bhawan reflects colonialism, which is why the government wants that the names of government buildings including Raj Bhawan should be kept on humanitarian grounds.
The name of PM residence has also been changed
In the year 2016, the name of the Prime Minister’s official residence has been changed from 7 Race Course Road to ‘Lok Kalyan Marg’. The feeling of public welfare is underlined by this name. This name does not convey a sense of exclusivity but of well-being. The Central Secretariat is also now known as ‘Kartavya Bhawan’ while the famous Rajpath of Delhi is now called ‘Kartavya Path’. The intention of the government is to send a message by changing the names of government buildings that the government is for the service of the public and not for the enjoyment of power. These changes in names reflect the government’s priorities of service and duty.
