Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs 1,500 crore for Himachal Pradesh after conducting an aerial survey of the state’s flood affected areas. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the state will be released in advance to deal with the SDRF and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to deal with the situation.
Prime Minister Modi also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured in the floods and natural disasters. After the survey, Prime Minister Modi held an official meeting in Kangra, in which the loss and rehabilitation measures were reviewed as well as assessed the loss.
These will be obtained in several ways, such as reconstruction of houses through PM Awas Yojana, restoration of national highways, reconstruction of schools, provision of relief under PMNRF and issuing mini kits for livestock. The Central Government has already sent inter-ministers to visit Himachal Pradesh to assess the loss and further assistance will be considered based on their detailed report.
Prime Minister Modi also met families affected by this disaster. He expressed his condolences and deep sorrow to the families of those who lost their lives in this disaster. He said that the central government will work closely with the state government in this difficult time and provide all possible assistance.
The Prime Minister also said that all types of assistance is being provided under the disaster management rules, including payment of advance amount to the states. He appreciated the efforts of personnel of NDRF, SDRF, Army, State Administration and other service-oriented organizations in immediate relief and rescue operations. The central government will review further assessment based on the state memorandum and the report of the central teams.
