New Delhi. The Election Commission has extended the deadline for the Voter List Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in 6 states/union territories including Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. In UP, SIR forms will be filled by 26th December and the draft roll of voter list will be released on 31st December. Whereas in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh along with Union Territory Andaman and Nicobar, the process of SIR will be done till 18th December and draft voter list will be released on 23rd December. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, forms will be filled till 14th December while the draft voter list will be released on 19th December.

This decision of the Election Commission will benefit those people who have not been able to submit the SIR form yet. However, there has been no change in the time limit of SIR in West Bengal. Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa said that in order to complete the SIR process in the state in a systematic manner and to prepare a pure voter list, the Election Commission of India was requested to extend the time by two weeks, so that the re-verification of deceased, shifted and absent voters can be done by the District Election Officers. He said that the Election Commission of India has again issued revised dates by extending the announced dates of the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) in the state on the basis of qualifying date January 1, 2026.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that according to the revised dates, the counting period has been fixed till December 26, 2025. The scheduled publication of election rolls will now take place on December 31, 2025. The period for receiving claims and objections has been fixed from December 31, 2025 to January 30, 2026. Decision on notice phase calculation forms and disposal of claims and objections will be made from 31 December 2025 to 21 February 2026. The final publication of the voter list of Uttar Pradesh will now be done on 28 February 2026.
