A slight improvement was recorded in the air quality of the capital Delhi on Tuesday and according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s overall air quality index (AQI) at 9 am stood at 291, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. On Monday morning, Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 318, which was in the ‘very poor’ category.
According to CPCB’s ‘Sameer’ app, out of 38 monitoring centers in Delhi, 18 recorded ‘very poor’ (AQI above 300) and 20 ‘poor’ (AQI above 200) air quality.
As per CPCB standards, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
The minimum temperature was 9.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.4 degrees less than the average temperature of this season. Relative humidity was recorded at 100 percent in the morning.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of fog during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
