Leh. Sonam Wangchuk has been held responsible for the violence that erupted in Leh, Ladakh on Wednesday. Now Sonam Wangchuk says that the CBI of her institute has also started investigation. Sonam Wangchuk has informed that the CBI is investigating in the case of violation of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act.
Sonam Wangchuk is considered by the people of Ladakh to improve education and environmental activists. Sonam Wangchuk has told the news agency PTI that the CBI team reached their Himalayan Institute of Alternatives about 10 days ago to investigate the violation of FCRA. According to the allegation, Sonam Wangchuk’s institute is taking funds from abroad without the approval of FCRA. The CBI has not yet registered an FIR in the case. Sonam Wangchuk says that she does not want to depend on foreign funds. Exports knowledge and raise revenue. Wangchuk argues that three cases were of service agreement, which were accepted as foreign contribution. They are saying to pay tax on these too.
According to Sonam Wangchuk, the CBI has sought information about the funds received from the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives and Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh from 2022 to 2024. At the same time, Wangchuk says that the CBI investigating officers are asking for papers of schools associated with the institute along with the accounts of 2020 and 2021. Sonam says that both schools impart free education to financially weak students. In Sonam, 15 days ago, he started a hunger strike demanding the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. After which there was a lot of violence in Leh on Wednesday. BJP’s office and police vehicles were burnt. The police fired in self -defense and killed 4 people. After which Sonam Wangchuk ended the hunger strike.
