Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR following a complaint by the Directorate of Education about spreading misinformation on social media regarding a form issued on the appointment of nodal officers in stray dog cases.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood said the government has decided to take action against ‘misinformation’ being spread on the issue by Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
The Directorate of Education lodged a formal complaint with the police demanding legal action in the matter.
An FIR has been registered in this regard under sections 353 (1) of the Indian Penal Code (making, publishing or circulating any statement, false information, rumor or report, including through electronic means) and 192 (intentional provocation with intent to cause riot, if riot is committed).
Sood said at the press conference that Kejriwal had earlier posted a message on social media claiming that Delhi teachers were being asked to count stray dogs instead of teaching children. He said, “A police complaint has been lodged on Thursday regarding this tweet.”
Accusing Aam Aadmi Party leaders of deliberately misleading the public, Sood said that after the FIR is filed, the party will start projecting itself as the victim.
