Very soon a major change is going to be seen again in the vehicles on Indian roads. Actually, nowadays the use of LED lights in vehicles is increasing rapidly, whose light is quite powerful on the roads but is becoming extremely dangerous for safety. Yellow light bulbs can be made mandatory again on Indian roads.
Nowadays, the trend of white LED headlights has increased rapidly on Indian roads. These lights look modern and premium, but the truth is that they have become a big threat to road safety at night. The bright white lights of oncoming vehicles hit the driver’s eyes directly, resulting in complete loss of visibility for a few seconds — and those few seconds can lead to a major accident.
⚠️ Why is white bright light more dangerous in a country like India – effects on eyes, glare in dust and illusion of visibility
White LED headlights are a technology designed for Europe and cold fog countries. The weather and visibility there are such that white light proves useful.
But India’s road and weather conditions are completely different:
✔️ There is more dust, smog, hot climate and clear nights here
✔️ White light reflects more, which dazzles the eyes of the person in front.
✔️ Glare immediately falls in the driver’s eyes, due to which both focus and control become weak.
Compared to old yellow headlights:
✔️ Does not sting the eyes
✔️ Provides more clear visibility in dust and fog
✔️ Do not take away the sight of the driver in front
That means, in terms of safety, yellow light is a much better and safer option for India.
💡 NCIB’s “Stop White headlights movement” – initiative to shake the public, government and auto companies
In view of this serious problem, NCIB (National Crime Investigation Bureau) has started the “#WhiteHeadlightBandKaro” movement across the country. The objective is clear –
“Road safety is bigger than fashion — and India’s roads need safe lights, not white glare.”
Major demands of NCIB:
Government should order vehicle manufacturers to set headlight rules according to Indian conditions
Excessive white/bright headlights should be banned
Legal control should be imposed on the intensity of light (lumens)
🛣️ Road safety is not just a matter of technology, it is a question of wisdom and human life.
NCIB says –
“If action is not taken now, this glare of white LED lights will not illuminate the roads of our country but will push them into darkness.”
In India, thousands of accidents occur every day due to lack of visibility and bright lights.
Therefore, law, companies and drivers – all three have to be responsible.
