Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will co-preside on the 13th India-UAE High Level Task Force on Investments (HLJTFI) meeting to be held in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. This meeting will not be chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Zayed Al.
The meeting will review the India-UAE Cast Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Double Treaty Treaty and Central Bank related matters. Also, new investment opportunities will be discussed in important areas like marine sector and space. Goyal is on a two-day UAE visit on 18–19 September. During this time, he will co-head the UAE-India Business Council (UIBC) Roundable and will meet the CEOs of the leading companies of India and UAE.
In addition, they will also participate in bilateral meetings that aim to strengthen trade, investment and cooperation. During the visit, he will meet several big business leaders including UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnon bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development Chair Ahmed Jasim Al Jabi and IHC managing director Syed Basar Shueb.
The last 12th meeting was held in Mumbai in October 2024, in which the Indo-UAE bilateral investment treaty was approved. This task force, established in 2013, has been an important platform to increase trade and investment between the two countries. UAE is a major strategic partner of India. The relations between the two countries are deeply connected in many areas such as politics, energy, defense, technology and food security. The CEPA agreement, which came into force in May 2022, has increased trade between the two countries rapidly and has also expanded a large expansion in non-oil areas.
