All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday targeted the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government over the Birbhum incident. Taking a jibe at Mamta, he said that instead of a pen, Muslims have been given a bomb in their hands. He is being used as a foot soldier. Politics has intensified regarding the matter. The state government is on target of opposition parties including Congress and BJP. Owaisi’s statement has come to the fore.
Owaisi said, “We condemn this violence, but we have been saying from the beginning that the so called secular parties do not want to see Muslims in leadership positions. She does not want to educate Muslims. Instead of a pen, he put a bomb in his hands. Instead of employment, he was engaged in illegal sand mining. This is a big picture. It is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order. The government proved to be a failure.”
Muslims have to see how they are used as foot soldiers. Nor are they given their share. They are not given respect and status. Look whose children are dying. Mamta Banerjee is saying this is a big conspiracy. Regarding this, Owaisi said, “You were sleeping. The government is yours and the chief minister is you. You didn’t see that there was a conspiracy. For how long will you speak conspiracy? How long will you get sympathy like this? If there was a conspiracy, how many officers did you suspend? How many got out? ,
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the police will ensure the harshest punishment for the culprits. He said that no one will be spared. He promised permanent government jobs to the members of the 10 affected families. Compensation was also announced. A total of 10 people died after a mob torched houses following the killing of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bhadu Sheikh in Birbhum’s Rampurhat area on Tuesday.
The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday took suo motu cognizance of the Rampurhat incident and directed the state government to submit a status report on the incident within 24 hours. The court had also directed the state government to install CCTV cameras for round-the-clock surveillance. CCTV cameras are being installed in the violence-hit area of Rampurhat. A special investigation team has been constituted to probe the matter. The Home Ministry has also sought a report in 72 hours.
