Bitta Karate’s real name is Farooq Ahmed Dar, who was a terrorist of JKLF i.e. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front. It is said that Farooq Ahmed Dar was a quick-witted karate player, hence his name Bitta Karate. The same Bitta Karate, who carried out several murders, later emerged as a separatist leader who talked about resolving the issue through dialogue.
According to media reports, Bitta Karate went to Pakistan and took terrorist training. Learned to operate weapons in terrorist camps built across the border and also took martial arts training. After many years he came back to Kashmir and indulged in anti-national activities. Then gradually he started massacre in Kashmir. Bitta Karate had said in an interview that he became a terrorist after getting fed up with the local administration.
Bitta joined the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front after becoming a karate terrorist. Then he started killing people, mostly Kashmiri Pandits. After this massacre, Bitta Karate was arrested in the year 1990. In front of the media, Bitta Karate admitted to having committed more than 20 murders, but in court he retracted these claims. Then Bitta was released on bail by TADA court in 2006 due to lack of evidence.
While releasing Bitta on bail, the court observed that there were serious allegations against the accused, but the prosecution was unable to give concrete evidence. The accused who should be punished is being out on bail. After coming out of jail, Bitta Karate again joined the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front. Then he presented himself as a separatist leader.
At the same time, after the Pulwama attack, Bitta was arrested by the NIA in 2019 on charges of terror funding. After this, the central government banned the JKLF i.e. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front. Then many separatist leaders were sent to jail for their involvement in anti-national activities.
