China’s leading tech company Xiaomi has launched its first electric car, SU7. Till now Xiaomi has expertise in making mobiles. Now the company has entered the auto sector. The company has kept the price of this electric SUV at 215,900 Yuan (approximately ₹ 24.90 lakh). Xiaomi SU7 costs less than Tesla Model 3 in China. The company has announced that the deliveries of SU7 will start from this month. It is believed that with the arrival of SU7, established players like Tesla and BYD will face tough competition.

Xiaomi’s founder, chairman and CEO Leichun pointed out that his R&D team has achieved many technological innovations in key areas such as design, battery technology, intelligent driving, smart cockpit and body structure. Notably, their intelligent driving system is scheduled for internal testing in April, followed by a launch in 10 cities in May. It is expected to expand across the country by August. Xiaomi entered the electric vehicle sector in the year 2021. Later completed industrial and commercial registration in Beijing and established a factory with an area of more than seven million square meters. The factory can make one car every 76 seconds, improving efficiency.
This EV SUV will be available in 4 models
The SU7 will be available in four variants: an entry-level edition, a Pro variant, a Max Edition, and a limited Founders Edition. With a four-door sedan design, the SU7 measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width and 1,455 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase and all variants ride on 19-inch Michelin alloy wheels. Highlighting the performance capabilities of the SU7, Xiaomi revealed that the top-end Max variant can achieve a top speed of 265 kmph.
0-100 kmph in 2.78 seconds
This model can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.78 seconds and offer a range of up to 810 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the limited Founders Edition equipped with a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain, produces around 986 bhp of power and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 1.98 seconds. The SU7 supports ultra-fast charging thanks to its innovative 486V and 871V architecture. Xiaomi claims that with just 15 minutes of charging, the EV can cover a range of 350 kilometers and 510 kilometers respectively.
