Chandigarh The 11th Indian Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) held in Bengaluru concluded on Saturday. On this occasion, 4 resolutions were passed and passed. Earlier, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and Vice President Dr. Krishna Lal Midda shared their experiences on parliamentary traditions and future needs. During this, Kalyan also mentioned the initiatives initiated by him in the Haryana Legislative Assembly. In the first resolution passed on Saturday, it was said that the deadlock and disruption within the houses should be abolished to increase public confidence in democratic institutions. With this, the topics of public welfare in our houses will be more and more discussed.
The second resolution focused on research and reference branches. It said that the research and reference branches of the legislative institutions of the states should be strengthened in collaboration with the Parliament. Legislators create a comprehensive database on all important topics so that the quality of discussion in our legislative institutions can be better.
In the third resolution, more and more use of digital technology was emphasized for the expected improvement in the efficiency of legislative institutions. It said that the proceedings of democratic institutions should be taken properly among the public. This will improve the efficiency of legislative institutions and will strengthen public confidence towards these institutions.
The fourth resolution focused on encouraging the participation of youth and women. It said that a large part of the population of our country is of youth and women. Therefore, legislative institutions should make necessary efforts to ensure their more participation in democratic institutions.
Earlier, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan said in the conference that the Legislature is not only a building of brick and stones but temples of democracy, where the collective voice of the public echoes. He shared his view on the subject ‘Legislative Assemblies: Debate and Discussion in Assembly: Building the trust of the public and fulfill the aspirations of the people’ and said that the debate and discussions are not only processes but the souls of democracy.
