The world of Bollywood is certainly full of glamour, but there are no less painful stories hidden behind it. One such name is Sadhna, a superhit and stylish actress of the 60s and 70s, whose life’s beginning was as bright as its end was equally painful.
Had deep relationship with Kapoor family
Very few people know that Sadhana was directly related to the Kapoor family. His father and actress Babita’s father Hari Shivdasani were real brothers. In this way, Sadhna looked like the aunt of Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Sadhna was not only known for her acting but was also a trendsetter for her unique fashion sense.
Journey started with one rupee, became the most expensive actress
Sadhna was fond of acting since childhood. He studied from home and entered the film industry at a very young age. He acted as a child artist in Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Shree 420’. But he got recognition from the film ‘Love in Shimla’.
Sadhna’s hairstyle, called ‘Sadhna Cut’, became a fashion trend of that time. He also started the fashion of Churidar Salwar in the industry. Her pairing with Devanand was a hit in many films. After reaching the peak of her career, she married director Ramakrishna Nayyar. Both of them met on the sets of ‘Love in Shimla’.
Distance from films after marriage
At the time of Sadhna and Nayyar’s marriage, Sadhna was just 16 years old and Nayyar was 22. Although their family members were against this marriage, but with the help of Raj Kapoor, both of them got married. After marriage, Sadhna distanced herself from the film world and became busy in her personal life.
Loneliness, illness and broken hopes
The biggest shock in Sadhna’s life came when her husband Nayyar died in 1995. Both of them had no children, due to which they were left completely alone. After this his health started deteriorating. He started having serious thyroid and eye problems, due to which he stopped going to public events.
Gradually his connection with the film world ended. He faced legal and health-related problems, but no close friend or colleague from the film industry came to him for help.
Sadhana stayed in a rented house during her last days.
Sadhna spent the last years of her life living on rent in an old bungalow of Asha Bhosle in Mumbai. There she was completely alone – with no one to support her and no one to inquire about her well-being.
Once the most expensive actress, whose name was in circulation, she had to appeal to people for help in her last days. But alas, no one came to him.
the last Goodbye
On 25 December 2015, Sadhna said goodbye to this world forever. Her departure was not only the end of an actress, but also the farewell of that film era in which a wonderful combination of art and simplicity was seen.
