Guwahati, July 18 (IANS). Officials said on Saturday that the ‘National Integrity and Educational Development Organization’ (NIEDO), running in collaboration with the Indian Army in Tinsukia district of Assam, has achieved a major achievement. 30 out of 45 students here have qualified for the ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test’ (NEET) 2026.
This success has been achieved by an initiative of ‘Red Shield Division’ under ‘Spear Corps’ of the Indian Army. This initiative provides free accommodation and coaching to promising students from economically weaker sections to prepare for medical entrance examinations.
According to the Army, the objective of this program is to ensure that promising students from underprivileged backgrounds get good quality coaching and mentorship so that they can pursue a career in the medical field.
Among the successful candidates, Roshan Kujur of Dighaltarang Tea Garden, Tinsukia has set an inspiring example of determination and dedication by scoring 402 marks in NEET 2026. Roshan lost his father at an early age, and since then his elder brother, who runs a small shop in Tinsukia, has been the family’s supporter.
Despite financial constraints, he remained focused on his studies and successfully passed one of the toughest entrance exams in the country.
Army officials said Roshan’s success reflects the spirit of students who overcome personal and financial challenges through hard work and taking advantage of educational opportunities.
He said that this success of the students is the result of their dedication, guidance received from NIEDO faculty and mentors and continuous support from the Indian Army.
This free residential coaching program has emerged as an important initiative in the field of education in Upper Assam in the last few years. It gives students from weaker families an opportunity to compete for admission to medical colleges across the country.
Officials said the initiative is part of the Indian Army’s broader outreach efforts in the Northeast, in which the Army focuses on education, youth empowerment and community development along with its operational responsibilities.
The success of NEET 2026 candidates is being seen as another important milestone for this program of the Army. This further strengthens the Army’s commitment to harnessing talent, expanding educational opportunities and contributing to nation-building through inclusive growth.
