Lucknow, July 18 (). Samajwadi Party (SP) national spokesperson Amik Jammei on Saturday targeted the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh government on various political and contemporary issues. He presented the party’s stand on Maulana Jarjis Ansari controversy, Azam Khan case, OP Rajbhar’s statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comments, Jauhar University, Maulana Arshad Madani’s statement and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s statement regarding Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
On the posters put up by BJP leader Manish Yadav regarding the statement of Maulana Jarjees Ansari in Lucknow, Amik Jammee said that Maulana Jarjees Ansari had gone to jail in a serious case and serious allegations were made against him. Samajwadi Party has been demanding his arrest since day one. Making derogatory remarks about the deities, gods or gods of any religion is not acceptable and such behavior is not liked by either the Hindu society or the Muslim society. If UP Police is not taking action then there could be political patronage behind it. Also, he accused BJP that some people are working to create political atmosphere only through social media.
On Azam Khan getting two years imprisonment in the case of indecent remarks on DM, Amik Jammee said that he has been in jail for about five and a half to six years. Describing him as a great leader of the socialist movement, he said that he had struggled against communal forces all his life. Jammee alleged that there is an atmosphere of administrative pressure on the judicial system of Uttar Pradesh. If such pressure ends then Azam Khan can get justice. He has faith in the judiciary and hopes that Azam Khan will get relief soon.
On OP Rajbhar’s statement regarding greater involvement of Yadav and Muslim community in crime incidents in the state, Jamei said sarcastically that it seems as if his social media accounts are being run under someone else’s influence. He said that Samajwadi Party still considers OP Rajbhar as a part of PDA politics and such statements are going to create unnecessary controversy in the society.
On Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s allegations against Samajwadi Party and Congress of changing the population balance and being linked to Jinnah’s ideology, Amik Jammee said that the government should first wait for the SIT report to be made public. He raised the question that if the report is yet to be presented in the Supreme Court then how are its alleged main points coming in the media. The government is creating new political controversies to divert public attention from important issues.
On Rajbhar’s statement regarding Jauhar University, Amik Jammee said that if the Samajwadi Party government is formed, then the university will be redeveloped under the leadership of party president Akhilesh Yadav, even if up to Rs 10,000 crore have to be spent for this. The demolition order issued against the university is unconstitutional and illegal. At the time the construction took place, the concerned development authority did not exist, hence the present rules cannot be applied retrospectively.
Supporting the statement given by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani on the history of Congress and the freedom movement, Jammee said that various classes and communities have made important contributions in India’s freedom struggle. He said that many people like the Ulema of Deoband, Maulana Barkatullah Bhopali, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi and Raja Mahendra Pratap fought against the British rule. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had opposed Mohammad Ali Jinnah at the time of partition and decided to remain with India.
Jammee alleged that at present an atmosphere of fear and division is being created in the society, whereas peace, brotherhood and social harmony are necessary for the progress of the country. During the struggle against Pakistan, the Muslims of the country also stood firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army.
On Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s statement on monogamy and uniform civil code, Jammee said the government should adopt an equal approach for all citizens instead of targeting any one community. Such statements are being made only for the purpose of political polarization. The government should pay more attention to the issues of social harmony and development, because without peace and brotherhood, overall development of the country is not possible.
