New Delhi, June 12 (IANS). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah held a high-level review meeting on Friday regarding the security and arrangements of Amarnath Yatra. Many important instructions were given in the meeting to make the journey completely safe, smooth and organized.

Amit Shah said that under the leadership of the Central Government, we are fully committed to ensuring the highest security and convenient journey of the devotees coming on Amarnath Yatra. He directed all concerned agencies to work with mutual coordination.

It was decided in the meeting that a multi-layered impenetrable security grid would be prepared along the Yatra route with the cooperation of Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies. To strengthen the security system, drones, CCTV cameras, modern surveillance systems and other cutting-edge technologies will be used extensively. Besides, the traditional security system will also be strengthened.

The Home Minister directed that during the yatra, senior officers of the Central Armed Police Forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police should be present at various camp sites to continuously monitor the security and arrangements. Apart from this, proper arrangements for all the necessary facilities like registration of devotees, accommodation, health services and disaster management should be ensured.

It was also decided in the meeting that the local people involved in the yatra and the animals used in the yatra would be registered. Everyone will be issued identity cards containing QR codes. Special camps will also be organized for health checkup of animals.

Keeping the weather in mind, arrangements will be made to move the groups of devotees forward. Passengers will be allowed to proceed further only on the basis of weather conditions and forecast. Apart from the Amarnath Yatra route, instructions have also been given to strengthen the security arrangements at other major tourist places of Jammu and Kashmir.

This year Amarnath Yatra will start from 3rd July and will conclude on 9th August i.e. the day of Rakshabandhan. Registration is mandatory for the Yatra, which can be done through Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and authorized banks.
