Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), saying terrorist attacks took place during their tenure but no strong retaliatory action was taken by his ministers, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a “new tradition” of strong retaliatory action, citing the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
Addressing a BJP public meeting in Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry, Shah paid tribute to the 40 CRPF soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019.
Shah said, “On February 14, 2019, 40 of our CRPF soldiers were martyred in Pulwama. I want to pay my heartfelt tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives for the country.”
He alleged that during the UPA regime, Pakistani terrorists carried out attacks on Indian soldiers and did not face any stringent punishment.
Referring to India’s retaliatory Balakot air strikes, he said, “During the Congress rule, Pakistani terrorists attacked our soldiers. During the UPA era, neither the Prime Minister nor the Defense Minister used to react. But PM Modi started a new tradition. In 2019, an air strike was carried out inside Pakistan’s border and the terrorists there were killed.”
Shah said the rally had two main objectives: to present the report card of the “double engine government” led by Prime Minister Modi at the Center and Chief Minister N Rangaswamy in Puducherry, and to “expose and expose” the “Trimurti Shakti” of the UPA and India alliance.
The Home Minister said, “Today this General Assembly has two objectives. The first objective is to present before you the report of the work done by the double engine government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi ji and Rangaswami ji. The second objective is to expose the trinity power of the UPA and the India alliance.”
Shah began his speech by paying tribute to “the great land of Puducherry”, apologized for not speaking in Tamil and expressed respect for the cultural heritage of the region.
Highlighting the performance of the NDA government in the last five years in the Union Territory, he said the administration has achieved three major goals: eradicating corruption, ensuring political stability and strengthening the autonomy of Puducherry.
Amit Shah said, “Five years ago, the people of Puducherry formed the NDA government here under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi ji and Rangaswami ji. This government has achieved three achievements: First, it has rooted out corruption from here. Second, the previous Congress government had made Puducherry an ATM for its masters sitting in Delhi. While we have worked to make Puducherry an autonomous union territory. The third achievement is that we have brought political stability in Puducherry. Have brought.”
Before the assembly elections, the Home Minister will formally launch the BJP’s election campaign with a public meeting in Karaikal.
