Itanagar/Aizawl, April 23 (IANS). The Spearhead Division of the Army’s Spear Corps conducted a massive cleanliness drive in Siom, Subansiri and Siang valleys of Arunachal Pradesh as part of its civilian outreach efforts.

Defense spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the effort reflects the Army’s continued commitment towards environmental protection and the well-being of communities living in remote border areas.

He said that the local residents participated with full enthusiasm in this initiative, which reflects their sense of shared responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural beauty of the area.

Lt Col Rawat said that based on the theme of “Clean Environment, Empowered Community”, the campaign emphasized the importance of clean public spaces in promoting health, hygiene and civic pride.

Along with the event, awareness sessions were also organized in which residents were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices and actively contribute in creating a clean and healthy environment.

The spokesperson said that this initiative highlighted that cleanliness is not only essential for public welfare but is also a collective duty that strengthens community spirit and social harmony.

This operation was greatly appreciated by the local community and further strengthened the bond between the Army and the common people.

The officer said the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to not only guard the country’s borders but also support constructive social initiatives that contribute to the welfare and overall development of remote border areas.

In Mizoram, in a commendable initiative to promote inclusivity and social cohesion, Assam Rifles conducted an interaction session with specially abled (Divyang) students of ‘Shalom Special School’ of the state.

Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) interacted with specially abled students of Serchhip district at ‘Lok Bhawan’ in Aizawl on Thursday.

Lt Col Rawat said the interaction session was organized as part of an ‘educational excursion’ program organized by Assam Rifles for 18 students and five teachers of Serchhip district.

During this interactive session, the Governor interacted with the students; He appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to pursue their dreams and goals with full confidence.

The program concluded with a positive message, which left a lasting impression on the students and further strengthened the efforts being made towards their welfare and overall development.

Defense spokesperson said that Assam Rifles is fully committed to strengthening civil-military relations and contributing to the development of the society in the region.
