Lucknow, May 30 (IANS). Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) national president and MP Chandrashekhar Azad on Saturday spoke about the upcoming election preparations, the position of the opposition, Panchayat elections, issues related to the public and the political vision of the party. He said his party believes in democratic values and is ready to cooperate with all political and social forces that respect their issues and participatory politics.
Chandrashekhar Azad told IANS that in the current political circumstances, a strong and real opposition is not visible in the country. Most of the political parties are engaged in competition to gain power and the claim of opposition unity is not visible at the grassroots level.
Referring to the elections in various states, he said that in states like Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, opposition parties have contested elections against each other in many places. In such a situation, it is natural to question the unity of the opposition alliance. He said that if the opposition parties continue to fight elections against each other, they will not be able to present an effective alternative to the public.
Referring to his party’s preparations for the upcoming elections, Chandrashekhar Azad said that Azad Samaj Party is continuously working on organization expansion and public relations campaign from the year 2022. He said that in the year 2026, four years of the formation of the party will be completed and during this period, continuous efforts have been made to strengthen the organization.
Chandrashekhar Azad said that in the 2024 elections, the party had contested on two seats, out of which it won one seat, while on the other seat the party stood third. According to him, electoral success boosts the morale of the workers and that is why party workers are now working in the field with more energy and enthusiasm.
Regarding the Panchayat elections, he targeted the state government and said that the government was not ready to conduct the elections. He claimed that the government already knew that reservation could be implemented in the three-tier panchayat elections only after the formation of the Backward Classes Commission, its report and review process is completed. Despite this, necessary preparations were not made on time.
Chandrashekhar Azad said that he was already saying that the government was not in a position to conduct Panchayat elections and finally this happened. He said that his party has completed its preparations at the grassroots level and that is why now a plan has been made to reach out to the public through ‘Satta Parivartan Yatra’.
He told that Azad Samaj Party has placed before the public a detailed blueprint of 33 resolutions. According to him, if the party gets the opportunity to come to power, a complete blueprint has been prepared in which areas it will work and what kind of policies it will implement. Through this document the public is getting a clear picture of the party’s thinking, priorities and development vision.
Speaking on public issues, Chandrashekhar Azad said that the people of the state are facing many problems at present. He alleged that amid the scorching heat, people are troubled by power cuts and on the other hand, the additional burden of increase in electricity rates has also been put on them. He said that unemployment, inflation, rising prices of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel have made the life of common people difficult. According to him, the people are facing economic and social pressure and the government is not able to solve their problems effectively.
Chandrashekhar Azad said that through ‘Satta Parivartan Yatra’, his party will reach the villages, towns and cities of the state, listen to the problems of the people and make them aware of its political vision. He said that this yatra is not just a political campaign, but an effort to understand the pain and suffering of the people and raise their issues prominently. According to him, the objective of Azad Samaj Party is to provide political participation to the deprived, backward and weaker sections of the society and to strengthen the voice of their rights.
