Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi issued a statement on the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters ‘Indira Bhawan’ on January 15, 2025. He said, “Our fight is against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian state.” This specific reference to the “Indian state” sparked a major controversy. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, calling him “anti-national”.
After this, a petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court, demanding registration of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi regarding this matter. The High Court has now given its verdict on this petition. On Friday, Allahabad High Court rejected this petition while giving its verdict in open court. This petition was filed by Simran Gupta in Allahabad High Court.
Simran Gupta had initially filed a revision petition against Rahul Gandhi in Sambhal’s Chandausi court. Chandausi Court, while giving its verdict on this petition on November 7, 2025, had rejected it. After this, Simran Gupta challenged this decision of Chandausi Court in Allahabad High Court. The arguments in Allahabad High Court were completed on 8 April, after which the court had reserved its decision.
What did Rahul Gandhi actually say?
Speaking at the inauguration of Indira Bhawan, Rahul Gandhi said, “Our ideology is very old. We have been fighting against the ideology of RSS.” He added, “Do not assume that we are fighting a ‘neutral’ war; there is no neutrality involved at all.” Rahul Gandhi further asserted, “If you think that we are fighting only against some political organization called BJP or RSS, then you have failed to understand the situation correctly. BJP and RSS have taken over every single institution of our country. As a result, now we are not only fighting against BJP and RSS, but also against the Indian state itself.”
