Amid growing tension between the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence ‘Varsha’ last night. The meeting took place after a day-long heated debate in the Assembly, where the atmosphere was quite heated over an issue related to Satara Zilla Parishad.
Uproar intensified after order to suspend Satara SP
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe ordered suspension of Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Doshi; This step further increased the stir in political circles. NCP and Shiv Sena leaders accused police of misbehavior
It is worth noting that Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai, NCP’s Makarand Patil and members of both the parties had demanded suspension of the Superintendent of Police. BJP defeats Shiv Sena-NCP alliance in Satara
The special thing is that BJP’s Priya Shinde has been elected District Council President in Satara, defeating the candidate of Shiv Sena-NCP alliance. BJP won the top post by securing more votes than the Shiv Sena-NCP alliance, although the victory margin was very small. Shiv Sena MLA Hemant Patil had raised the issue in a special meeting called before the commencement of assembly proceedings last Monday. He had alleged that the police misbehaved with Shambhuraj Desai, Makrand Patil and NCP Legislative Council Member (MLC) Shashikant Shinde.
Responding to this, Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe said, “I direct the Maharashtra government to suspend the Satara SP and other concerned officials who have misbehaved with voters and ministers.”
