Bengaluru, May 19 (IANS). Karnataka BJP president and MLA BY Vijayendra on Tuesday launched a verbal attack on the Congress government. He questioned the government’s decision to celebrate three years of celebrations and alleged that the state has witnessed ‘misgovernance, corruption and administrative failure’ under its rule.
It is known that amid the ongoing speculation over leadership issues within the Congress, the Karnataka government is going to celebrate the completion of three years of its tenure with a grand program named ‘Pragatiyatta Karnataka’ in Tumkuru near Bengaluru on Tuesday. Under this programme, the government will distribute property documents to 1.52 lakh beneficiaries.
Vijayendra asked what does the Congress government want to celebrate? He alleged that the state was facing rising debt, empty treasury and lack of development works. Roads, hospitals, schools, irrigation projects and civil infrastructure works across the state are being affected due to lack of funds, while the government’s focus is on advertisements and political management.
He alleged that the financial burden of the government’s policies will fall only on the youth of Karnataka in future. The BJP leader also accused the government of failing to clear payments to contractors, delaying infrastructure projects and delivering zero development during its tenure.
Criticizing the guarantee schemes of the Congress government, Vijayendra alleged that these guarantees were irregular and delayed and were being used more as election gimmicks rather than public welfare commitments. He also accused the government of putting burden on common citizens by increasing the prices of essential commodities.
Vijayendra further alleged that scams, commissioneering and misuse of public resources have increased on a large scale under the current administration. He claimed that Karnataka was being turned into an ATM for the Congress high command in an attempt to save the position of the ruling leadership.
The BJP state president also targeted the government regarding the law and order situation in the state. He alleged that riots, drug networks, hooliganism, murders and attacks have increased, creating an atmosphere of fear among citizens. According to him, under the current government, the morale of criminals seems to be high, while the common people no longer feel safe.
Referring to recent allegations regarding the condition of jails, Vijayendra claimed that jails are also becoming party hubs, where criminals are allegedly enjoying VIP treatment inside the jail. He raised the question that if criminals are celebrating inside the jails, then what moral right does the Congress government have to celebrate outside?
Accusing the government of failing on finance, development, delivery of welfare schemes and law and order front, Vijayendra described the anniversary celebrations of the Congress government as a reminder of ‘three years of misgovernance, corruption, appeasement and betrayal of public trust’.
He stressed that even if Congress presents its ‘self-praise report card’, the people of Karnataka will give their verdict only through the ballot box.
