Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), saying the assembly election battle in West Bengal is about “defeating fear” and taking the state forward on the basis of trust.
Addressing a rally in South Dinajpur, Prime Minister Modi also reiterated the BJP’s promise to implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations in West Bengal.
He said, “This is a fight to defeat fear, this is a fight to take Bengal forward on the strength of trust. Today I have come to assure you that TMC’s reign of fear is about to end. TMC’s shop of lies and loot is about to be closed. Fear will go away from Bengal, now trust will come in Bengal.”
Prime Minister Modi said that TMC tried to contest elections in many places outside Bengal but it did not get support.
“They went to contest elections in Tripura, they went to contest elections in Assam and they went to contest elections in Goa. Their dishonesty and hooliganism do not work. TMC cannot win outside Bengal because they have no vision, no ideas, no policy, no intention,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that more than 30,000 houses have been built for tribals under the PM Janman Yojana, but not a single house has been built in West Bengal.
He said, “TMC can never develop tribal areas. Let me give you the example of Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. Tribal people are benefiting from this scheme in every state of the country.”
He said that the Central Government is spending about Rs 25000 crore on this scheme.
He asked, “In Odisha, where the BJP government is in power, more than 30,000 houses have been built for tribals under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, and in Tripura too, more than 16,000 houses have been built for the tribal community. But here, the anti-tribal government of TMC—do you know how many houses they have built under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana? Zero. Not a single house has been built. The money is given by the Government of India. What enmity do they have with the tribal community that They are not even ready to provide permanent houses?
He said, “TMC does not leave any opportunity to insult the tribal society. President Draupadi Murmu ji had gone to a program of the Santhal community in Bengal some time ago. But TMC neither respected the dignity of the Constitution, nor respected the tribal society, nor respected the mothers and sisters of the country. There is a need to teach a lesson to TMC, which insults mothers and sisters, insults the tribal society and insults the Constitution.”
She said that “when the BJP government is formed” in Bengal on May 4, women police personnel would be recruited on a large scale.
Voting will be held in West Bengal in two phases on April 23 and 29 and the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
