New Delhi, April 10 (IANS). Delhi Police Commissioner (CP) on Friday held an important interaction with probationary officers of the Indian Information Service (IIS) at the Police Headquarters (PHQ). During this, he shared his views in detail on the citizen-centric working style of Delhi Police, modern challenges and future direction.
According to the post on the official ‘X’ handle of Delhi Police, the CP stressed on the citizen-centric approach of Delhi Police in his discussion with the IIS probationers. He explained how important it is to use technology to make policing more effective in today’s digital era.
During the conversation, CP said that public expectations are changing rapidly. People are now demanding prompt, transparent and accountable policing. He also made traffic management an important topic of discussion and said that it is a big responsibility of the police to keep the traffic orderly in a metropolis like Delhi.
The CP also apprised the officers about Delhi Police’s vision towards a developed India 2047. He said that the role of police in building a developed India is not limited to just maintaining law and order, but extends to inclusive development, civil security and confidence building.
IIS Probationary Officers are visiting Delhi Police Headquarters to understand the practical aspects of policing. In this interaction he received detailed information about the functioning of Delhi Police, coordination mechanism and citizen services.
Encouraging the young IIS officers, Delhi Police Commissioner said that only with better coordination between the Information Service officers and the police, the schemes and policies of the government can be effectively conveyed to the general public. He stressed that communication is the basis of good governance and information service has an important role in building a bridge of trust between the police and the public.
