New Delhi, February 24 (IANS). Delhi Police has arrested Uday Bhanu Chib, National President of Indian Youth Congress. According to sources, this action has been taken in connection with the ‘shirtless protest’ that took place during the India AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam last week.
According to the information, the police had detained Bhanu on Tuesday morning and formally arrested him after interrogation. After which Uday Bhanu Chib was presented in the court.
Delhi Police said that people from different places of the country are involved and have to be taken to many places for investigation, hence seven days’ custody is required.
According to sources, the police is trying to find out whether there was any organized plan behind the protest or not. At present the investigation of the case is going on.
Earlier on Monday, accused Jitendra Yadav, Raja Gurjar and Ajay Kumar were arrested along with others from Gwalior. A case was registered against them at Tilak Marg police station. Police say the protesters had registered online to receive a QR code to enter the venue. The accused had earlier planned to stick stickers on black umbrellas and secretly take them to Bharat Mandapam. After this he thought that the black umbrellas would attract the attention of the security personnel posted at the entrance, but he changed his plan and got the stickers printed on T-shirts and wore them under his shirt.
Let us tell you that this matter came into discussion when Youth Congress workers protested without wearing shirts during the AI Summit. The protesters raised slogans against the policies of the central government, rising unemployment and issues related to AI. After the uproar at the venue, the police had registered a case under various sections including disturbing public peace. So far, a total of eight people have been arrested in this case, including Uday Bhanu Chib.
According to the police, Youth Congress workers entered the lobby area of Hall No. 5 on Friday and started raising slogans by removing the T-shirts worn under their shirts or holding them in their hands.
