He also expressed his gratitude to the leadership of UAE for taking care of the large Indian community living there. PM Modi said, “Thanked them for taking care of the Indian community living in UAE. We support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability.”
India and UAE have strong strategic and economic relations. The two countries have a close partnership on trade, energy, defence, counter-terrorism cooperation and issues related to the diaspora. The UAE is home to one of the largest Indian expatriate communities in the world, strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in the national capital late Sunday evening. According to government sources, this meeting was called in view of the rapidly deteriorating geopolitical situation in West Asia.
The meeting took place in the backdrop of the US-Israel air strikes on Iran and the subsequent heightened regional tensions. Reports also mention the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, raising fears of a wider conflict.
In the meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri were present.
According to sources, Prime Minister Modi reached Delhi around 9:30 pm after returning from a two-day tour of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and chaired the CCS meeting soon after.
The CCS is the highest decision-making committee on security and strategic matters in the country, consisting of the Prime Minister and the ministers of Defence, Home, External Affairs and Finance.
