Punjab CM should be held accountable for 'insulting gurus': Nitin Naveen

Ludhiana, June 21 (IANS). Taking aim at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, BJP president Nitin Naveen on Sunday said the time has come to punish the state government and the Chief Minister for insulting the gurus.

Accusing the government of pushing the state towards economic ruin, Nitin Naveen said that Punjab has been used like an ATM by taking loans indiscriminately. He promised that every penny would be accounted for.

Nitin Naveen was addressing a conference of over 8,000 sub-circle (Shakti Kendra) workers and party officials in Ludhiana.

This high-level organizational meeting of Nitin Naveen, just after the big rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Moga, clearly indicated that BJP is preparing to contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on its own.

He said that for the people of Punjab, there is nothing greater than the respect and prestige of our Gurus. How can a state tolerate a government whose Chief Minister insults our Gurus? Now the time has come that the public should teach such a government a lesson.

Talking about the economic condition of the state, the BJP chief said that Punjab has a huge debt of Rs 4 lakh crore. He alleged that central funds worth crores of rupees released in the last few years were embezzled by fraudsters.

He said that the Punjab government has done almost nothing for the people, but has put people’s lives and livelihood at risk. There is no value left for human life under the rule of this government. After the 2027 elections, we will recover every single penny looted from Punjab.”

Naveen said that Punjab is currently facing the triple crisis of drug addiction, terror of gangsters and increasing debt. He said that only BJP has the political will to take the state out of this situation.

Naveen said that BJP fulfills its promises. We had promised to remove Article 370 and fulfilled it. In Kashmir, where Pakistani flags once fluttered, peace has finally returned and the youth have joined the mainstream.

Referring to the achievements of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nitin Naveen said that 25 crore people have been brought out of poverty, about four crore houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojana and lakhs of women have been empowered through special welfare schemes.

He said that BJP is running the government in 22 states across India and is developing rapidly across the country. Due to the absence of a ‘double-engine government’ in Punjab, the people here are being deprived of these benefits and the state is lagging behind.

He appealed to the voters to remove the present government from power and said that the main objective of the party is to create a powerful, prosperous and developed Punjab. He urged the party workers to come out and start a grassroots campaign.

He further said, “Every BJP worker should reach every house, locality, village and city and tell about the welfare policies of the PM Modi-led government and expose the misgovernance of the state government. If we put in all our strength, every booth committee will turn into a development and heritage committee.”
