Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he found two particularly notable points while examining the government’s recent economic survey.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi said that the first important point is that geopolitical conflict is becoming intense in the world. He said China, Russia and other emerging powers are challenging the dominance of the United States, signaling a move away from the unipolar global order.
Rahul Gandhi said, “I was looking at the Economic Survey and I found two solid and important points that I liked. The first point is that we are living in an era where geopolitical conflict is becoming intense. America’s dominance is being challenged by China, Russia and other powers.”
He said the second important observation is that the world is facing the weaponization of energy and finance, and both are increasingly being used as strategic tools in global power struggles.
He further said that the broad message of the survey suggests that the world is moving from an era of stability to an era of instability.
Gandhi remarked that the Prime Minister and the National Security Advisor had earlier said that the era of war was over. However, he argued that current global developments indicate the contrary.
Gandhi said, “Secondly, we are living in the age of energy and financial weapons. The main thing being said here is that we are moving from an era of stability to an era of instability. The Prime Minister and the National Security Advisor had made a shocking statement some time ago that the era of war is over. In fact, we are entering the era of war.”
He pointed to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Gaza conflict, tensions in the Middle East and the threat of war involving Iran. He also mentioned Operation Sindoor as part of the evolving security scenario. The Lok Sabha MP further said that a major change is coming in the global system, in which the US dollar and American supremacy are being challenged.
According to Gandhi, the world is moving from a single superpower system to a new, uncertain global order that is difficult to predict.
Rahul Gandhi further said, “You can see there is a war in Ukraine, there was a war in Gaza, there is a war in the Middle East, the threat of war in Iran is looming. We conducted operations in Sindoor. So we are entering a world of instability. The dollar is being challenged. As my colleagues understand, the basic issue is that the dollar is being challenged, American supremacy is being challenged. We are moving from a superpower world to a new world which we cannot predict.”
