Kolkata, May 6 (IANS). TMC MP Dola Sen blamed the election commission for the defeat in West Bengal and made many serious allegations. At the same time, MP Saugata Roy cited local issues and I-PACK strategy for TMC’s defeat.
Talking to IANS about TMC’s defeat, MP Dola Sen said, “We believe in complete transparency. If it was really a clear mandate of the people, we would have accepted it, but on the day of counting, the mandate was mismanaged, the democratic process was pushed beyond limits and many illegal actions were taken. All this was done deliberately. Even in collaboration with Gyanesh Kumar’s team, an attempt was made to create fear among the people. “Something happened, it’s not right.”
He further said, “During the elections, names of 92 lakh voters were deleted through SIR. If it was so important then why was SIR not started from June 2024? Names of 92 lakh genuine voters were deleted. If these people were infiltrators, the Election Commission and Amit Shah should have released the list, but still the list of their names has not been released. This means that the names of voters were deleted deliberately.”
Dola Sen said, “BJP created an atmosphere of fear in Bengal to win the elections. 2.5 lakh central forces were deployed during the elections. Despite this, the public voted for Didi, but on the day of counting, the counting of votes was started very late. In about 100 places, where Trinamool Congress candidates were leading, the Election Commission was not uploading their data on the website. Due to irregularities, BJP has won the elections.”
Meanwhile, TMC MP Saugata Roy said, “I don’t know anything about I-PACK. I can’t even say anything about it because they haven’t talked to me and neither have I talked to them. How can I say anything from outside? I don’t even know what suggestions were made or what results came out.”
He further said, “BJP was successful in polarizing Hindus and consolidating Hindu votes, and on the basis of this it achieved success.”
On TMC’s future in West Bengal, TMC MP Saugata Roy said, “The results in 2006 were even worse. We crossed that phase and came to power in 2011. This is how politics works. There is no reason to be worried about it.”
