Heating up the political atmosphere ahead of the upcoming state elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday promised strict legal action against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) “syndicate”.

Addressing a massive rally in Purba Bardhaman, the Prime Minister announced that the BJP-led government will release a “white paper” to present a comprehensive account of alleged corruption during TMC’s 15-year rule.

Prime Minister Modi directly targeted the TMC leadership and accused it of systematic looting with the connivance of ministers and local MLAs.

Prime Minister Modi said, “BJP will bring a white paper to ensure legal account of corruption involving TMC MLAs, ministers and gangs. It will have complete details of the 15 years of the government. Strict action will be taken to stop every such crime under the BJP government.”

She also predicted an “overwhelming mandate” for the NDA in Kerala and said the high energy and participation of women in their rallies are clear signs that the BJP is “steadily heading towards victory” in West Bengal.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Wherever there has been heavy voting and strong participation of women, BJP-NDA have got a huge mandate. The situation in Kerala is such that both LDF and UDF are not claiming victory. In Bengal too, BJP is moving fast towards victory. Your enthusiasm and energy will ensure success.”

In an effort to consolidate the crucial votes of women – a demographic group that has traditionally supported Mamata Banerjee – the Prime Minister made a huge financial pledge.

Prime Minister Modi said, “In view of the increasing support of BJP in Bengal, TMC is nervous and is misleading the people by telling lies. You can rest assured that BJP will close down their den of corruption. I have especially come to assure all the sisters and daughters of Bengal that BJP has announced Rs 23,000 per month for women.”

He accused TMC of spreading misinformation about the BJP’s intention to cancel existing schemes and asserted that his party will strengthen the distribution of benefits by removing middlemen.

He said, “TMC is scared after seeing the love of the people of Bengal for BJP. That is why TMC is lying to you. TMC is saying that if BJP comes to power, this scheme will be stopped, that scheme will be stopped. The truth is that BJP will not stop anything… BJP will only close the shop of corruption, will stop the loot of TMC.”

The Prime Minister’s visit comes at a time when West Bengal is gearing up for crucial elections on April 23 and 29, the results of which will be declared on May 4.

The upcoming elections are being held after the 2021 elections, in which TMC had won a landslide victory on 213 seats. However, BJP’s rise from being a minor party to winning 77 seats in the last election cycle has become the basis of this important contest of the present time.
