Dehradun, January 4 (IANS). CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday paid the pension installment for the month of December through DBT system into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of various pension schemes being run under the Social Welfare Department from the Chief Minister Camp Office.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami released a total amount of Rs 140 crore 26 lakh 97 thousand online in the accounts of 9 lakh 43 thousand 964 beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the state government is continuously making efforts for the social and economic empowerment of the weaker sections of the society, the elderly, widows, disabled people and the destitute.
He said that to strengthen the transparent governance system in the state, all types of payments are now being made directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT system, which has ensured timeliness and transparency.
The Chief Minister directed the officials of the Social Welfare Department that the people of the state who are eligible for old age pension after attaining the age of 60 years, should be identified from the age of 59 years, so that the pension can be paid to them immediately once they come in the eligible category.
He said that the aim of the state government is that every eligible beneficiary of the society should get the benefits of the schemes without any kind of difficulty. He directed that the process of regular verification and monitoring should be further strengthened so that no eligible person remains deprived under the pension schemes.
The Chief Minister said that the government is fully committed to the effective implementation of public welfare schemes.
On this occasion, Director Social Welfare Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, Additional Secretary Prakash Chandra and officials of Social Welfare Department were present.
