MP Weather Today: As soon as the month of July starts in Madhya Pradesh, monsoon activities have also intensified. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas of the state today (July 1). According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon is now becoming increasingly active in the entire state, due to which the rainy season is likely to continue for the next few days. Apart from providing relief to the people from the scorching heat, it is also a relief news for the farmers.

Major alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 7 districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall in Balaghat and Dindori. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Dewas, Harda, Betul, Pandhurna and Chhindwara. Along with heavy rainfall, lightning and strong winds are also expected in these districts. The administration has appealed to the people to remain alert and avoid waterlogged areas.

Warning of thunderstorms and strong winds in more than 45 districts

According to the Meteorological Department, Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Indore, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Burhanpur, Barwani, Khandwa, Khargone, Ujjain, Shajapur, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Jabalpur, Katni, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Mandla, Rewa, More than 45 districts including Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mauganj, Maihar, Shahdol, Umaria, Sagar, Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari may experience rain and strong winds along with thunderstorms. Whereas there is a possibility of moderate rainfall in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa and Ratlam.

Monsoon is becoming increasingly active in the entire state

According to meteorologists, Monsoon has reached most of the districts of Jabalpur, Bhopal, Rewa and Shahdol divisions by last Tuesday. It is likely to reach Bhopal, Sagar, Gwalior, Ujjain and remaining districts of Chambal division in the next 2-4 days. After this, monsoon activities will further intensify in entire Madhya Pradesh.

Temperature dropped due to rain

The effect of continuous rainfall is also clearly visible on the temperature. The maximum temperature was recorded at 30.6 degrees Celsius in the capital Bhopal, 33 degrees in Indore, 35 degrees in Ujjain, 32 degrees in Jabalpur and 40 degrees in Gwalior. The lowest maximum temperature recorded in Betul was 26.2 degrees Celsius, which has brought great relief to the people from the heat.

Rainfall in June was much less than normal

However, Madhya Pradesh recorded below normal rainfall in the month of June. The entire month received only 88.2 mm rainfall, against the normal average of 131.1 mm. That means, about 33% less rainfall was recorded in the state in June. However, the Meteorological Department says that due to active monsoon in July, the rainfall deficiency is expected to be compensated to a great extent.

Meteorological Department’s advice

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert during bad weather. It has been advised to avoid open spaces, standing under trees and electric poles during heavy rainfall, strong winds and lightning. Besides, the administration has been ordered to remain alert to deal with possible waterlogging, rising water level of rivers and drains and other emergency situations.

Now, rainfall is likely to continue in most parts of the state in the coming days.
