Baitul News: A small road accident became the cause of a major communal tension in Multai in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. There was huge anger among Hindu organizations after the incident of assault on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) district campaigner Shishupal Yadav by some youths of the Muslim community. This anger took the form of protests and the tension increased so much that unrest spread in the city.
Minor dispute took serious turn
The incident started when RSS pracharak Shishupal Yadav was going on his bike and Jain was turning near a cold drink. During this time, some Muslim youths cut his bike. The argument that started over this trivial matter soon turned into a fight. Sangh Pracharak Yadav suffered minor injuries.
The news of this incident immediately spread among Hindu organizations, causing deep anger among them. Angry protesters took to the streets and started protesting. During the protest, some unruly elements entered the Muslim locality and vandalized shops there. This act further escalated the situation and people from both communities took to the streets, leading to intense tension in the city.
Activism of police and administration
Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the police and administration immediately came into action. SP Virendra Jain said that RSS Pracharak Yadav has not suffered any serious injury and the situation in Multai is now returning to normal. The police took immediate action and detained three youths from the Muslim community who had committed the assault. However, his identity has not been made public yet.
To control the tension, police have deployed a large number of additional forces in the city. Betul Collector Narendra Suryavanshi and ASP Kamla Joshi themselves reached Multai and took stock of the situation. A huge crowd had gathered outside the police station and also outside the houses of the youth involved in the fight, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. SP Jain has assured that the police is keeping a close watch on every activity in the city and is making constant efforts to prevent any kind of conflict between the two parties.
Ramlila postponed to maintain peace
To maintain peace in the city, the administration took a major step and got the Ramlila program scheduled for Thursday postponed. Ramlila director Sanjay Aggarwal said that the story of Ram’s exile, which was to be staged on Thursday, will not be staged now. A large number of police forces including SDOP and Multai police station in-charge are deployed in sensitive areas to ensure peaceful environment and avoid any further untoward incident.
